Did you know you can climb the highest peak in the southern Front Range of the Rockies without ever getting out of your car? That’s the message we tried to get out with these ads.

The first two images could be seen overhead in the Denver airport as travelers debarked and took their first steps into Colorado via escalator. The next six ads appeared in print over several years.

The natural world is about families big and small—and that’s the point we wanted to convey in our second campaign for the Smithsonian, which focused on getting families into the National Museum of Natural History. These ads appeared on digital screens throughout the DC metropolitan area.

You’re willing to watch someone’s kids, pets, or plants when they’re out of town. So how hard is to watch their firearms or pills when they’re struggling? We created these three fun little spots that pushed the humor envelope further than this normally somber brand has ever gone.

After the work we did for their renovated fossil hall, the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History recommended us to the main Smithsonian office for a two-page ad in the New York Times's fall Arts & Exhibits section. This ad would showcase some upcoming exhibits but more importantly express the Smithsonian's passion and support for the arts. So we put our heads together and came up with a few concepts, and we're happy with the way it turned out. Copy by me, art direction by Jeremy Ames, additional creative direction by Jeff Taylor.

Each summer, Utah seems to grow more and more flammable. In 2021, I helped create and execute messaging that helped Utahns take a few simple steps to prevent wildfires. After all, summer’s a lot more fun when everything’s not on fire.

Ensign College (formerly LDS Business College) needed an inspiring hero video to appeal to the wide range of people whose careers might start within its walls. Script by me, direction and production by Fiftyfilms.

We worked with the governor’s office for a quick PSA campaign encouraging Utahns to follow the state directive to “stay safe, stay home” during the COVID-19 pandemic. We opted for an optimistic approach, making it clear that even during a pandemic, life goes on.

Did you ever look up at those traffic marquees with the clever messages (or messages trying to be clever, sometimes) and wonder, “Who on earth wrote those?” Well, sometimes it’s me.

All of these have appeared over Utah roads. Many went along with various holidays.

Sometimes I was able to get a picture of them in their natural habitat, fully conscious of the irony of using my phone to take a picture of a traffic safety board.

Halloween can make for some scary streets—especially if you’re a pedestrian. The Heads Up initiative for Zero Fatalities hired us to come up with a fun way to teach kids Halloween safety.

Utahns have a problem with distracted driving. These posters hung in schools, driving home the point (sorry for the pun) that texting while driving is a habit that needs to be kicked.

The LDS Church’s Christmas efforts are intended to inspire a Christ-centered spirit of cheerful giving and selfless service. The “Light the World” campaign, currently in its third year, encourages participants to follow a service-themed advent calendar and other initiatives across social media and the Internet.

I didn’t have a lot to do with the video this year, but I included it on this page to give a sense of the campaign’s message. My task was writing copy for the advent calendar and associated web pages, several of which are seen below (I didn’t bother including the web pages for all 25 days).

This campaign was brought to you by a whole host of talented people. It takes the whole agency for these flagship seasonal campaigns. Most of the copy on this pages is mine.

The LDS Church’s seasonal campaigns provide a lot of work at Boncom. The Easter campaigns were designed to spread a message that was dear to Christians everywhere, told from the Church’s unique perspective.

I wrote the initial script for the “Prince of Peace” hero video and the accompanying banner ads, as well as a lot of the website copy.

I also helped create eight supplementary videos, each for a different “Principle of Peace” users could learn about to increase their sense of peace over the Easter season. If you look closely at the Gratitude video, you can see a special cameo by yours truly.

Thrift chain Deseret Industries had a problem with their store in Seattle. Nobody knew how to pronounce the name. We pounced upon that problem and came up with these nifty TV spots.

The United Nations Foundation needed to spread the word about the Global Moms relay, a worldwide team-up of moms to make sure kids everywhere have access to proper nourishment, medical care, and support. To bring this message to the desired audience, I strove for a fresh, approachable, and familiar voice.
